Collapse ▲The link below contains a preliminary summary of the surveys in NC, VA, and SC from this past winter’s peanut production meetings. Note that the sample size from SC is small. When data were combined across the V-C Region, there are some instances where the summary may not be reflective of practices across the state of South Carolina. The percentage of acreage reflected in the survey for NC and SC is high as far as surveys go. I will provide a summary of the data for in-furrow insecticide use over the past decade as soon as possible. Thanks to farmers for filling out the survey and extension colleagues for facilitating the process across states. One of the NC State Extension agents will present this at the annual meeting of the American Peanut Research and Education Society this summer.
Note that not all numbers will add to 100%. For example, some farmers indicated that the applied multiple in-furrow insecticides or multiple tillage practices.
