4-H Presentation Competition Program

Martin County 4-H has been very busy with our 4-H Livestock Show, and School Enrichment – 4-H Embryology, and now we are gearing up for our famous 4-H Presentation Competition Program. This is a wonderful way for youth to learn public speaking skills and have fun!

The North Carolina 4-H Presentation Competition Program is designed for youth ages 5-18 as of January 1st of the year in which they participate. Youth will learn how to properly plan, design, and implement a presentation of their choice. There are many topics youth can choose from including grilling, agriculture, animal science, cooking, fisheries and wildlife, firearm safety, and much, much more! Youth will work with Susan Tyre, Martin County 4-H agent to design a 5 to 8 minute speech. They will also design posters to go along with their speech and we will work gather props to go along with the theme of each child’s presentation.

This is a wonderful way for youth to learn how to effectively speak in public. The number one fear among American adults is public speaking! Who knew?! What better way to get your child over their fears than signing them up for this competition, and help them learn. Youth will practice with Martin County 4-H to get their presentation to perfection. All youth will compete at the Northeast 4-H District Activity Day on June 20, 2018 in Warren County, NC. Martin County 4-H will provide transportation to this event. Youth winning 1st Place, Gold Medals at this event will advance to the State 4-H Competition in July.

For more information, and to register, please call Susan Tyre at the Martin County 4-H Office at 252-789-4370. Registration deadline is May 11, 2018.
