We have a new Agriculture Extension Agent in Martin and Pitt Counties. Lance Grimes started as the new Area Agriculture Extension Agent for Martin and Pitt County on June 2. He is a native of Martin County and lives in Williamston. He comes to us from Washington County, where he worked as an Agriculture Extension Agent for 4 years. He has also helped with the 4-H Martin County Livestock Show for many years, and showed hogs for many years as a 4-H youth. Lance also farms with his dad Ricky Grimes and is a graduate of NC State University.
Lance will have field crops responsibility and will answer questions from farmers on cotton, corn, soybeans, grain sorghum, and wheat, in Martin and Pitt Counties. He will be the Pesticide Coordinator for Martin and Pitt Counties, and will conduct pesticide education courses for those needing Pesticide Continuing Credits for pesticide licenses.
